Meaning
Lit: “an algae eater”. This fish is among the most popular home aquarium dwellers, not just in Poland. It is famous for sucking to glass walls with its large mouth (it is a bottom-feeder) which is why it has a second, figurative meaning.
Namely, the “glonojad” is used to denote women with unnaturally large lips, either as a result of botox injections or persevere posing to kiss/smile selfies (polish: “dzióbek”). The term is clearly pejorative and stresses vanity, fakeness and mindlessness of such a person. It is quite often used against flash-in-the-pan pop stars, influencers or simply high school queens.
