Meaning:
Lit. “for yesterday”. It’s what your boss will say if you ask him/her when a very urgent project/task should be delivered.
Most of the time it’s meant ironically but if you have a good working relationship with a person using this expression, you will understand that the issue is really pressing and do your best to deliver the work in question really fast.
However, it also happens that this phrase is thrown without a hint of a joke, especially if relations between two people or companies are cold. In such case the “yesterday” might contain a threat: you better get going or we might press you harder.
Examples:
Potrzebujesz części na wczoraj? Tego nie zrobimy, ale jeśli złożysz zamówienie do 14.00, paczka wyjedzie z naszego magazynu jeszcze tego samego dnia, a nazajutrz kurier DPD lub InPost zapuka do Twoich drzwi.
Zapytacie “Na kiedy mam przygotować projekt?”. Otrzymacie odpowiedź – “Na już”, “Na wczoraj“.. Do czego zmierzam – Presja czasu spowoduje, że odłożycie na bok twórczość i zaczniecie postrzegać grafikę jak masówkę na taśmie w firmie produkcyjnej.
Szukamy też współpracy u klientów, nie ulegamy korporacyjnej presji, że coś ma być zrobione na wczoraj i sami nie przekładamy tej presji na naszych pracowników.
