Meaning:
Lit. “a dog-son” is a comical overlap of two words: “psy” and “synek”. It is used to refer to dogs which are treated as children by their owners.
To be more precise: as substitutes for children. The perfect setting for using this expression is when a couple does not want to have children but instead puts lots of effort and money into their dogs(s) which are endlessly spoiled.
Even though a “psynek” is humorous, it is also ironic and might be sarcastic. Some (over-socialised) people might feel hurt if you use it for their dog.
The female version is a “psórka”: “psy” and “córka”.
