Meaning
Lit. “to throw the papers”, is a very assertive of saying that an employee has terminated his/her contract quite suddenly. The expression only describes this situation, not when the company terminates them (which would be “został/a wylany/a” – “has been poured out”).
If you say “rzuciłem papierami”, you stress the fact that you did not like the job at all and finally acted on it. This might be in order to move to another employer – or have some time off a regular work.
The papers meant here are of course the notice handed to the employer’s HR or “people and culture”, the progressive name of the same.
