Meaning:
Lit. “bathed in hot water”. It is a popular phrase describing a person who takes sudden decisions without thinking much. A person who is very much action-oriented but also impulsive and impatient.
The expression is often used to persuade someone to think twice. You say then “nie bądź taki/a w gorącej wodzie kąpany/a” which basically means “hold your horses”.
The origin of the phrase might be twofold. For one, hot temperature is associated with action and speed while cold – with lack of movement. But also the instinctive reaction to jumping into hot water is jumping away – as fast as possible.

Pierwsza była w gorącej wodzie kąpana, niecierpliwa. Druga – opanowana, wyważona. Dziś jedna z nich prowadzi z sukcesem własną firmę, ma piękny dom. A drugą właśnie zwolniono z pracy.
