Lit. “from a different barrel”. This is a very Polish way to signal switching topics. The expression is not fully official – it has a funny undertone – but is widely understood and used in various situations.
The most famous use case is probably Tomasz Beksiński‘s translation for Monty Python’s “and now, for something completely different”. Which made the phrase popular back in the 80’s.
