Meaning:
Lit. “to hang dogs on someone” which means to slander, vilify, depreciate someone, to accuse this person of deplorable deeds. This expression can be applied to people as well as institutions, in various contexts, and will be understood by most Polish people.
In medieval Europe (especially Spain and Germany) serious criminals were executed by hanging head-down between two wounded dogs. Sometimes a fire was put below the convicts to increase their pain and further enrage the dogs, which in turn bitten and clawed the unfortunate human even more. Especially Jewish criminals were subjected to this to further humiliate them, hence the German name “Judenstrafe“.
And here lies the origin of this Polish phrase.

Ludzie wieszają na mnie psy, bo odeszłam od męża i dzieci. Gdyby zrobił to facet, nikt nie pisnąłby ani słowa”.
Wszyscy chcemy awansu, żebyśmy mieli komu kibicować w Katarze, bo pewnie wielu Polaków tam pojedzie, a nie wiem czy sam się nie wybiorę. Jeśli nie awansujemy, to wszyscy będą wieszali psy na prezesie, że wybrał tego trenera a nie innego.
Ekipa CD Projekt RED nadal walczy o uratowanie Cyberpunk 2077 – połatanie dziur i niedociągnięć, z którymi nie udało się poradzić przed premierą. Nieudana premiera gry sprawiła, że analitycy na całym świecie wieszają na firmie psy. Dom Maklerski Banku Ochrony Środowiska stwierdził nawet, że jest to najbardziej znienawidzone studio na świecie.
